Dear both singers and audience members –
What an incredible start to our 2011-2012 season! Saturday night’s Music from the Big Screen concert was so full of energy and I couldn’t have imagined it better! I was all set to post a note to the public blog to talk about the concert from the audience perspective and thank you all for coming and then a note to the in-house blog to congratulate the chorus and pump them up to dive into concert #2. Well, this concert experience seems to blend all that together!
We, the chorus, were ready for you, audience! We loved the music and had had a full week of polishing details and getting the logistics of the space down. And you, oh audience of ours, came in after a day of sloppy weather and forecasts full of potential, completely ready for us! You filled the room and gave us back every bit of enthusiasm that the chorus gave out! Chorus, I asked you for good faces and to tell good stories – you did both! Bohemian Rhapsody was just too fun – all you needed from me was instigation, hardly any conducting involved! And, from what I hear…there were a good many of you audience members who could easily have stood up and “gotten your Freddie Mercury on” right then and there!
So – I think I’ll go ahead and pump you all up for Concert #2! If you’re singing (or you’d like to!), we dive in tomorrow – yup, tomorrow. Our first rehearsal – which is an open rehearsal – is from 7:15-9:30 at the Church of the Holy Comforter , 543 Beulah Rd NE, on Tuesday, November 1st. The concert is stories and songs for the Christmas season. We’ll tell the Christmas Story from a few different perspectives and also have some fun with contemporary Christmas stories such as “The Night Before Christmas,” “The Nutcracker,” “A Charlie Brown Christmas” and more.
The concert itself – Saturday, Dec., 17th at 4:00pm – hopefully the second in the season to survive a snowy forecast!
Congratulations to all of you – for braving the weather, for singing beautifully and for throwing yourselves into the experience!!
