And today, VCS declared pj day and cancelled rehearsal. It was the sensible thing to do in this weather, no? Come to think of it, it’s very much in keeping with the spirit of our next concert: We’re singing Lullabies (4:30 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Vienna Baptist Church) in our pajamas.
That’s right, we’re ditching our formal attire for this performance. We thought about it. And realized that while we’d look …..silly, we’d take that over looking positively ridiculous, singing in bowtie and formal clothes – at a family-friendly concert, where many of our audience members may well be either just done with naptime or heading towards bed time.
Yes, you are also most welcome to attend in pjs if that suits you! And we certainly hope you’ll join in during the camp fire part of the evening – sing with us, sing to your kid, may be just sing for yourself!
About the music, we’ve only had two weeks of rehearsals, and already the choir sounds wonderful on a couple of pieces. Perhaps it’s because many of us remember singing them to our children. Or hearing them as kids. (Case in point, “Jenny Rebecca.” Which more than one singer remembers either singing to their kid, or hearing it on a Gerber baby food commercial.)
It really is going to be a lovely evening of music – so mark your calendar and stay tuned for tickets, (which you can buy through friends in the choir, or online starting next week). Also stay tuned for a couple of other wonderful surprises. We’re going to have some really special guests at this event.
We’ll share more details, and give you a heads up on tickets next week. But we’ll share it first with audience members who sign up for our mailing list. You can sign up now, it’ll take you about 30 seconds – just put your email address in the box up in the right hand corner of this page.
With that, it’s back to being vegetables and watching the snow fall. See you in March – and until then, stay warm!
