Rich Follett: Reason 3 (Of Many) To Come To Celtic Arts Festival

March 1, 2012

So we’ve been getting to know some of the performers slated to perform at the Celtic Arts Festival we’re presenting in less than two weeks. Up next, Rich Follett.

We asked Mr. Follett a few questions, who very kindly answered!

Q: What is that instrument you’re holding in your website photo? And is that really a feather in your cap?

A: I am holding a guitar lute. Looks like a lute, plays like a guitar. I used this lute for twelve years as a performer at the Maryland Renaissance Festival.

Q: What are you looking forward to at the Celtic Arts Festival?

A: I am looking forward to wonderful, pure music and people who appreciate the same. Music, for me, is like water – it is always purest closest to the surface.

Q: What are five things about you that would surprise us?

1. I grow and show African Violet plants – at one time, I had more than a thousand varieties in my collection!
2. I am also a High School English and Theatre Arts teacher.
3. I am an internationally recognized poet:
4. I can hear plants. Seriously. If I am in a house or business where a plant is in need of watering, I hear it “screaming” and cannot be at ease until I have found the parched plant and watered it.
5. When I was a child, I wanted to be a toll collector when I grew up. I abandoned my career plans at the age of six when my parents informed me that you had to turn in the money at the end of the day!
