UPDATE: Please look at our Sing! page for the membership information and package.
Have you missed singing? We sure have! Which is why we’re counting down.
We are now two weeks from our season kick-off, and we can’t wait! It is free to attend. We encourage you to drop by if you’ve been curious about us, and you are most welcome to bring a friend. What happens at kick-off, you ask? A few things. Here is what you can expect:
Lots of reconnecting, making friends, and “so you’re that guy!” type conversations. Especially since it’s the first many of us are seeing each other since the last concert in May, not counting the fun parties and get togethers the altos apparently have – who knew? So yeah, there might be some spontaneous singing and “frisbee throwing” when our director, Jennifer Rodgers Beach gets going, no lie.
But I Don’t Sing!
That’s okay. We have grown the choir, the size of our audiences, and our creative ambitions – and we have precisely three staff, two of whom are on stage at every concert (that would be Jen and our accompanist). Which means we need all manner help to get every concert up and going. If you want to be involved but do not sing, come on down! Perhaps you can help us manage the box office, be an usher, hand out programs, help at our after-parties, and much more. In return, you get a pair of free tickets. Sweet, huh?
Vocal Placement For Newcomers.
We keep it simple. If you’re new, we’ll find you if you don’t find us, And connect you to Jen who will do a private 10 -15 minute screening to see what part best fits you. You do not have to rehearse a piece, or bring any music. We are a non-audition choir, and as Jen has been known to say, “Open rehearsals are your opportunity to see if we fit you, not the other way around.” About open rehearsals…
We’re an inclusive non-audition choir. But that doesn’t mean we’re not serious about the music. How else would we sound good enough to collaborate with audition choirs and get invited to public events? That happens when everyone shows up and rehearses. So you have the opportunity to check us out for the first three rehearsals of each concert. (Those dates are on our Coming Up page.) Singers sometimes drop out after the third rehearsal, but it’s usually because of a work schedule conflict. If someone’s decided not to come back because they don’t like us…um, we haven’t heard of that.
We eat, and drink. Need we say more? (There is actually more, and we’re SO EXCITED but you have to sign up for our mailing list to find out about that. Heh.)
Okay, that sounds dull. But we are now some 80 voices, and that’s a lot of folks to keep track. So we do need you to fill out a registration and membership agreement – newcomers as well as returning singers. Again, we try to keep it as simple as possible! Look for updated info on our site next week. We’ll also have a few copies at the kick-off.
And that’s it for the kick-off, really!
Of course, if you’re already sure you want to sing with us and want to get in shape for the season, now’s your chance to sign up for our last workshop of the summer. Tickets are still available, get them while you can!
