PDQ Bach : Cowbells And Chicken Solos

May 4, 2014

We are less than three weeks from show night. And as I sit in the back, listening to the choir polish notes and run through their repertoire, it’s already a lot of fun. Here are just a few samples of the one liners during this week’s rehearsal:

Conversation between director and accompanist:

“I have a bird whistle.”
“Oh good.”
“I have a cowbell too.”
“Of course you do.”

To the whole choir:

“Not love. Looooohve.”

(To rhyme with move.) And yes, it sounds just as hilariously dorky as you think. Particularly when Jen wants us to channel a hapless date, the one with “the wilted rose, the glasses askew, and the hair that sticks straight up.”

And the best one of the evening….to the whole choir:

“I need chicken solos!”

Well yes, who doesn’t?

Truly, if you’ve ever thought of classical music as a sedate, sniffy, “sit up straight” kind of affair…this is the concert to poke a hole in that balloon. Parodies and PDQ Bach is an evening of mockery, humor, and some gosh-darn sophisticated singing. Plus a few end-of-surprises that you won’t want to miss!

Please join us! We sing Parodies and PDQ Bach, 7:30 pm, Saturday, May 17, 2014. Tickets are now available online.

As always we offer free admission to those want to volunteer behind the scenes. If you’d like to help, sign up here.

And now, more cowbell.
