Naturally, as we get ready to sing Solstice: Light and Dark tomorrow, we couldn’t help notice this interesting bit courtesy of the Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang:
If you don’t like the cold, the good news is whatever the rest of winter brings, daylight is once again on the upswing.
Meanwhile on their facebook page, CWG had this to say:
First day of winter is tomorrow, Saturday, at 12:11 p.m.!
* This is start of astronomical winter, aka winter solstice
* It’s the shortest day of year, upshot being days will start growing longer starting Sunday!
* Midday sun is at lowest point in sky of the year; amount of sun energy 3.5 times less than June
* It certainly won’t feel like winter tomorrow
Because tomorrow’s predicted high is a glorious 66F!
Meanwhile another wag, Old Try, had this to say – “If tomorrow is the solstice does that mean today is the shortest work day of the year?” We highly second that emotion.
