So, in addition to 50 of the Mosby Woods Mustang Singers and our usual numerous selves, we will also have a storyteller at Lullabies. Because one of the many things that needs must happen before kids go to sleep/are coaxed to sleep/flat out threatened into sleep (hey, it happens, ask a frazzled parent or seven….) is a story. Bedtime stories, silly stories, funny stories, scary stories, soothing “once upon a time stories.”
Naturally, we thought we’d have a storyteller for part of the concert. We don’t know exactly what Leigh Graf will tell us – although if it was Goodnight Moon, we’re pretty sure that at least half the room will have the words tattooed on their brain know the words by heart. All together now, “In the great green room…..”
Honestly though, what are some of your favorite bedtime stories? What do you remember from when you were little? And what do you read to your kids these days? Or maybe you just make stories up, a la DC-based writer, John McCormick’s Dad Tell Me A Story? We’d love to know not just because it’s fun to find out if we have something in common, it’s a great way to increase our repertoire in Vienna and the DC-metro region in general, because so many of us come from around the world and one person’s “goodnight moon” is another’s Strega Nonna, or Panchatantra, or The Little Prince. Tell us!
Tickets are now on sale for Lullabies, 4:30 pm, Saturday, March 15, 2014 (at VBC, 541 Marshall Road SW, Vienna, VA 22180) – $25 for adults, $20 for seniors 60+ and students (15 – 18), youth (14 and below) attend for free accompanied by a ticketed attendee. Tickets can be purchase through a member of the choir, or online.
