We sing AMERICAN QUILT, 7:30 pm, Saturday, October 19 at Providence Presbyterian Church (9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22031). It’s a wonderful repertoire of our shared American musical heritage. The kind where anyone can simply wait for an opening, and step into the common square of song to rediscover the music you forgot you knew and loved.
Do you have your tickets? You might want to get them fast! Because we’re sharing the stage with special guests from James Madison High School’s Madison Select Singers and Madison Madrigals (dir. Claire Rowan) and Orchestra (dir. Erin Eberly).
It’s going to be a packed stage, but as a teaching choir, we wouldn’t have it any other way!
We’re often asked what “teaching choir” means. It’s simple: We welcome and support singers and musicians on all points of their artistic journey. Beginners learn how to simply be on the stage or in the audience, emerging artists find a place to polish their craft, and adults come to find joy whether they’re singing or listening.
More than anything else, everyone on stage learns from one another. VCS singers share in the infectious optimism and energy our guests bring to the concert. And our younger partners discover that music can be a lifelong pursuit that enriches us immeasurably. As Ms. Rowan and Ms. Eberly put it, “Having a chance to move out of our own auditorium and perform with fellow musicians from our town is such a gift. Our Madison students are able to see the great joy that comes with a lifelong pursuit of musical excellence and what fun it can be to make something beautiful with your community.”
At a teaching choir, everyone wins, and everyone’s day is a little bit sweeter for the music. So come join us! Fall right into the music you love well and just haven’t heard in a while. Chances are you remember all the words.
Tickets are $25/adults, $20/seniors and students (15-18).
We also have season tickets available at $85/adults and $75/seniors and students. Youth 14 and younger attend for free.
Tickets are available through the choir or online
until 11:55 pm, Friday, October 18, 2019.
We’ll also have them at the door on concert night.
Box office opens at 6:45 pm, doors open at 7:15 pm.
Look forward to seeing you in a week and change!
