We asked folks what they’re looking forward to. Here were some answers: Spring, for real, finally. Outdoor gatherings, especially nice restaurants! A Nat’s game. Cookouts. The cicadas. (Okay that last one was only from one person.) The big one of course, was being fully vaccinated, and seeing family and grandparents and grandchildren and more for the first time in a long time. One singer declared, “hugs will ensue.” But the overarching response? In-person rehearsals and concerts, and live music!
Yes! We couldn’t agree more.
As many have said during this pandemic, the arts are what’s getting us through this. Rehearsals – even if remotely and into a Zoom screen – have been invaluable in creating and maintaining VCS’s choral community during isolation. Some came just to listen and see their friends. Some came to sing and enjoy the music. We were happy to see them all. We’re eager to see the result of all those Zoom calls at this weekend’s virtual concert.

We’re especially looking forward because in one singer’s words, “When I was performing with the choir, I couldn’t see anyone’s face during the performance…this is an awesome way to be IN the choir and also WATCH the choir!”
Indeed, that is one of the silver linings of this entire experience – we get to be part of a concert on so many levels. We get to sing and listen from wherever we are. We get to see a community come together through the unique joy of singing.
