Join Us

Our members come from all backgrounds and walks of life. We share a love of singing and a desire to grow both in our awareness of the rich choral music that exists and in our abilities to perform it well. We are proud to have several founding members of VCS still within our ranks, and we warmly welcome new members who are interested in blending their voices with ours.

Want to join us? It’s very simple!

1) We have a very simple placement screening, which is required of all new members.

2) You need to fill out and sign the membership agreement (for new and returning members) and registration.
* Online here for membership and registration/voice placement.
* Print out and bring with you – (membership agreement) and (registration).

3) Once you join us, please be very sure to read the guidelines and information in the membership packet, especially the part about dates and inclement weather.

4) Plan to rehearse with us every Tuesday.

Come, sing with us!

Placement Screening

This is a 10-minute, completely private screening (just you and the director). The purpose is to get to know our Artistic Director, place you in the correct section, and to get an idea of your voice and ability to sing the music for the season.

You’ll do simple vocal exercises with our director so she can get an idea of your range and ability to sing on pitch.

You’ll sight-read (with ample help) something very simple such as a hymn or a folk song. You will not need to bring an accompanist.

Rehearsals

We rehearse on Tuesdays at 7:15 pm at Church of the Holy Comforter. We meet in the Chapel of that space – just down the hallway from the Sanctuary.

We welcome all choral singers who are committed to excellence and who have the time to devote to preparation of multiple performances and outreach activities each season.

We require each new Member meet with our  Artistic Director for a short, simple placement screening. We also ask that you be on time to rehearsals, attend most of the rehearsals and work on some material at home each week. Enjoyment comes from delivering quality performances.
